This results in high-strength materials that are used in a wide variety of industrial sectors.\nThe winding process and the pultrusion process allow the glass fiber to be inserted both in directions specifically specified by the designer and in a higher content. As a result\, the thickness of the laminate and therefore its weight can be greatly reduced or a special load behavior of the finished parts can be set.\nThe winding processes have developed further in recent decades\, both technologically and in terms of the raw material base\, in order to ensure that the finished parts can be used in modern applications. DESCRIPTION:Sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are currently the focus of research and industry. The plastics industry in particular needs to find new ways to reduce environmental impacts such as marine pollution\, low recycling rates and dependence on crude oil. SUMMARY:Basic seminar "Bio-composites - sustainable fiber composites"
DESCRIPTION:In the production of biocomposites\, a matrix material (plastic) is processed with fibers as a reinforcing material\, whereby at least one component must be obtained from a renewable resource by definition.\nThis results in new sustainable materials that have exceptional mechanical properties and can be used in lightweight construction.\nFibers made from flax\, hemp or jute are often used as reinforcing fibers\, which are increasingly competing with the predominant synthetic fibers due to their high specific properties.\nThe thermoplastic or thermoset matrix systems can also be partially or predominantly bio-based.    Basically\, bio-based fiber composites can be processed using conventional manufacturing processes.\nHowever\, there are still challenges to fully exploiting the potential of this class of fiber composites.\nBio-composites are currently used in the automotive industry in particular\, for example for interior fittings or body parts.\nHowever\, bio-based composites have also established themselves in the sporting goods industry or as a material for furniture.
